Trek publishes no defensible conventional equivalence for its letter sizes. Trek states it 'recently transitioned Trek road bike sizing from numerical sizing to alpha sizing' and now publishes height and inseam only. The centimetre figures retailers print beside Trek letters are per-model seat-tube lengths, not size names: the same 'M' appears as 47.6 cm on a Madone and 50 cm on a Domane, and 'S' also appears as 47.6 cm. The only cm-to-letter statement Trek makes is partial — the Madone Gen 8 FAQ says 'Sizes 52cm and 54cm have been combined into one size (M) and size 62cm has been replaced with a new XL frame' — which accounts for two of eight old sizes and leaves 58 cm and 60 cm unresolved between L and XL. Any complete mapping would have to be invented, so Trek keeps its letters and its retailer-printed centimetres are discarded rather than read as conventional sizes.
